MEDRC CD, Ciarán Ó Cuinn has been appointed to the Global High Level Panel on Water and Peace, launched in Geneva by Swiss Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter last week.

The Panel was established by 15 co-convening countries with extensive technical, diplomatic and political experience in the field of water and peace. They have mandated the Panel to formulate proposals on the instruments and architecture to be put in place to prevent and reduce water-related conflicts and global and regional level READ MORE HERE


MEDRC Welcomes Dr. Jauad El Kharraz On board

MEDRC has appointed Dr. Jauad El Kharraz as head of its research program. Jauad comes with a vast amount of experience, including his time as information & projects manager at the Euro-Mediterranean Information Water Information System (EMWIS), France, and Researcher at the Global Change Unit, Spain. He conducted and contributed to several EU projects and was representative of France at the Intergovernmental framework for EU Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST Action TN1301). He has published and contributed to hundreds of conferences, journals and reports in the fields of water management, drought, water information systems, remote sensing applications and scientific research.  
"It is an honor and a challenge to be nominated Head of Research at the Middle East Desalination Research Center. My main objective will be to boost MEDRC research activity by gathering the best regional and global expert together to help find solutions to water scarcity by conducting, facilitating, promoting, coordinating and supporting basic & applied research. Among the 1st initiatives 'MENA Water Bulletin' ."

CPET Water to Provide Additional Licensed Expert Level Courses

MEDRC has signed an agreement with the international expert in water desalination Nikolay Vouchkov licensing MEDRC to use and deliver his two most useful training courses materials in MENA region and exclusively in Jordan, Palestine, United Arab Emirates and Sultanate of Oman READ MORE HERE  

Training Delivered in Tendering for Large Desalination Projects 

MEDRC recently hosted an intensive four day training session on Tendering for Large Desalination Projects, attended by experts from Palestine and Jordan. The session was arranged in cooperation with the Jordan Valley Authority and the Palestinian Water Authority and included participants from Jordanian Ministry for Water and Irrigation; the Palestinian Water Authority; the Coastal Municipal Water Utility, Gaza; the Gaza Municipality and the Jordan Valley Authority READ MORE HERE 

MEDRC Congratulates New Water Research Fellows From Jordan 

As part of the successful Water Research Fellowship Program, MEDRC was delighted to award two students at the Jordan University of Science & Technology with support for their research work. Ms. Manal Al-Shraideh's research focuses on Water Governance and Integrity Risk Assessment for theWater Sector in Jordan, with the support of supervisor Prof. Fayez Abdulla and Ms. Heba Kanaan is investigating Coupling Activated Carbon with Surface Active Materials for  Olive Mill Wastewater Treatment, under the direction of Dr. Muna Abudalo  READ MORE HERE
