New to the stage this week: Olympic Asian Pears and Piney River Gold Apples

What makes the Olympic Asian Pear so special?

Olympic Asian pears hail from Korea, and the fruits can get up to the size of a grapefruit. They are the largest of the Asian pears, hence the name Olympic. This variety ripens later than more Asian pears, making it suitable for long-term storage.

Easy to can or dry, this variety has more uses than just being stored as is. People have even dehydrated them to make Asian pear crisps! I have read some tales of people using them to make pear sauce or to use as a pie filling.

Online Store
From the Agriberry fields...

Yes, those are Black Magic Blackberries that are still fruiting in October! The late Mother's Day frost may have destroyed many crops this year, but the fall fruiting berries will be fine until fall frost hits.
We are still selling Stargell's Honey at all markets and pop-up stands. This honey is sourced from multiple hives throughout Central Virginia.

Here is one of Stargell's bees pollinating flowers in our fields! How lovely it is to see nature working together.

Employe Highlight: Sara

Sara is a part of the marketing team and the harvesting team, a dynamic part of the AgriTeam indeed. When she is not in the fields or at a berry stand, she is studying Horticulture at J. Sargeant Reynolds or paddle boarding with one of her cats.

Sara is our Market Lead at Strange's on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-6:30 pm. Drop by and say hello while getting your fruit fix for the week!
