Dear <<First Name>>,

Please join us on Tuesday 27 October 2020 at 7pm for our Annual General Meeting, followed by a discussion about how we can work together to continue building a City of Sanctuary in Brighton & Hove.

This is Sanctuary on Sea's first Annual General Meeting since becoming a charity in 2019. It falls in the middle of the COVID-19 epidemic, which has seen people coming together in mutual support, but at the same time spotlighted inequalities and caused disproportionate suffering to minoritised communities. This summer's Black Lives Matter protests have reminded us that a city cannot be a place of sanctuary and welcome unless every resident is treated equally and can live safely without fear or discrimination. So this is a good time for us to reflect on how Brighton & Hove can live up to the name, "City of Sanctuary" and on the next steps in building a culture of welcome for all.

We are delighted that we will be joined by:
- Councillor Steph Powell, Chair of the Transport, Equalities, Communities and Culture Committee ,
- Naqeeb Saide, Hummingbird Young Leader
- Bianca Mukasa, Sanctuary Scholar and Trustee of City of Sanctuary

Agenda:
7pm Chair and Treasurer's reports
7.20 Discussion with Cllr Steph Powell, Naqeeb Saide and Bianca Mukasa about building a City of Sanctuary

To attend, please register here  . Details of how to join the online event will be sent to you shortly before it starts. We suggest you connect a few minutes early in case there are any technical problems.

See you on Tuesday!

Richard
