Dear <<First Name>>,

Please join us at our Annual General Meeting on Monday 25 February to discuss
Young People and Racism in Brighton - Challenges and Responses.

We like to think of our city as a welcoming place, but that is not always the experience of young people who seek sanctuary here. Some encounter racism daily; many don’t report it. Join us to discuss what we can all do to make Brighton & Hove a place of sanctuary for young asylum seekers and refugees.

Time: at 5pm  -  7.30pm  (Registration from 4.30)
Place: BMECP, 10A Fleet Street, Brighton, BN1 4ZE.

Speakers will include:
  • Hummingbird Young Leaders Naqeeb and Mohamad
  • Damien Jordan, Headteacher, Fairlight Primary and Nursery School, School of Sanctuary
  • Sam Beal, Partnership Adviser: Health and Wellbeing; Families, Children and Learning (Education and Skills), Brighton & Hove City Council
5.00 – 5.30 Sanctuary on Sea AGM
5.30 – 6.30 Discussion: Young People and Racism in Brighton - Challenges and
6.30 – 7.30  Food and networking
Please register here (Eventbrite)

We will be serving delicious food (pay as you feel) and there will be plenty of opportunity to meet people from our partner organisations who are supporting refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in Brighton & Hove.

Please let us know if you would like to become a member of Sanctuary on Sea (membership is free), which gives you the right to vote for the Management Committee.
If you would like to stand for election to the Committee, we should love to hear from you.  Do get in touch if you would like to find out more about what it involves.  We would particularly welcome people from refugee and migrant communities.  Please be aware, however, that our structure will be changing shortly, as we have applied to become a charity.
Please get in touch if you work with seekers of sanctuary in Brighton & Hove and would like to have a stall at the event.

Looking forward to seeing you!
Best wishes,

Richard Williams,
Chair, Sanctuary on Sea
