Kherby Jean (2nd from right) was baptized in Lake Tuskegee last Monday.
Kherby Jean is a junior, originally from Haiti, and now from Miami, who is studying architecture at Tuskegee University. He began attending the TU Bible Talk at the beginning of the fall. The campus ministry was handing out popsicles with invitations, and a young woman who came as a result brought him with her.
Kherby started to attend church, and by the third week of coming, asked to study the Bible. “He knew God was telling him he needed a Godly community to survive as a college student. He felt the presence of God talking to him,” said Bryce Outten.
Kherby enjoyed the studies and took them seriously. “He kept pushing forward," Bryce related. "He would ask us when is the next study,”
Then Kherby got to the conversion study, and struggled when he realized he had not followed the scriptural plan of salvation. Yet he was determined to seek out the truth. “He’s not moving until he can confirm in through the books of the Bible,” said Bryce. “He’s kind of like the Bereans. That’s what I appreciate about him. He hung right in there and got baptized."
With Kherby's baptism on Monday, November 25, the ATCC is happy to welcome him to our church family. Bryce said that, as many graduate this year, Kherby will be a great asset for next year's campus ministry. "He kind of reminds me of me as far as him really seeking out the truth and nothing but the truth. I just want to build him up and help him find a role in the church where he can build up the campus. I think he definitely has the heart for it."
Great Weekend Planned!
On Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 PM, we will visit the residents of the Magnolia Haven Nursing Home in Tuskegee and encourage them with a Christmas carol sing along, and gifts of warm socks and hats. Make plans to join us, and encourage the elderly. The address is 603 Wright St. in Tuskegee.
Please note: our Christmas Gathering will be at a different location. On Sunday, Dec. 8, we will meet the Event Center at the University Station RV Park, at 3076 AL-14, Auburn, 36832. (In the vicinity of Keisel Park.) Once you arrive at University Station, follow the signs.
Our worship will include special seasonal performances by members. Then we will have a full blown spread of holiday food, with ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casseroles, green beans and dessert.
Sunday will be capped off with the ATCC traditional White Elephant Gift Exchange after the service. Bring a wrapped gift worth 5 dollars or less for each person who will participate in the gift exchange. Children are welcome to parcticipate as well.
Please remember to make your weekly contribution during the holidays. Our collection has been down recently. We still need to pay our bills!!
