Happy 2018! I would like to take this time to recap all the amazing things God has done in the ATCC in 2017. He not only allowed us to witness 13 baptisms in 2017, but also helped us see many disciples be strengthened and grow in their relationship with God.
Here are some of the 2017 highlights (there are probably more that I'm forgetting so please let me know if I missed something):
Many have grown and been transformed in their relationship with God
First ever New Christians class
W.O.W. d-group started (Women of Wisdom)
Completed 7 week marriage class (You and Me Forever – Marriage in Light of Eternity)
First men’s camping trip
God provided permanent jobs for ATCC disciples to stay as workers in the harvest field
Active HOPE benevolent ministry (serving children’s group homes and women’s shelter and weekly encouragement to senior citizens at Monarch)
We now have a home base in Columbus Ga (Christina's home)
Moved to the VFW, lowered our expenses
Our Re:Church theme transformed the way we did Sundays and midweek gatherings to promote more fellowship, openness and encouragement
Family members were baptized
Graham served as a Fall intern and will continue to serve for another semester – He has been a huge help to me and the entire ATCC!
Our kids kingdom ministry is growing with new babies and grandkids coming in
Devonte and Lajasmine got married!
Our 1st (annual?) Christmas play written and directed by Kat Watson, and performed by ATCC talent!
I would like to thank each disciple in the ATCC for your hard work, faith and commitment that has contributed to a great 2017. Your love for God is amazing and I can’t thank you enough for how much you have loved Marge and I (in both good and difficult times) in the 3 ½ years that we have been here. You are all so amazing!
Now we begin 2018 and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us! We are forming many goals that will help the forward direction of the ATCC and there are many challenges ahead as we effectively reach out and grow churches in Auburn, Tuskegee, Montgomery, Enterprise and Columbus, GA. As Jesus stated in Mark 9, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” Reaching our goals, along with alleviating our challenges, is much bigger than anything you or I have the power to do, and, therefore, we are going to rely on the one that has the power to accomplish these things – GOD! Praying to God is the answer! The only answer!
On Sunday, January 7th, we will start 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting! For 40 days we will be focusing on Prayer and Fasting through lessons, quiet times, prayer times and days of fasting.
Why 40 days? 40 seems to be the magic number found in the bible. Many great things happened in scripture around the number 40 including:
It rained 40 days and 40 nights during the Flood, and Noah and his family remained in the ark another 40 days while the water receded. When they were finally able to leave the ark, the world was different— it was new—and they were on the onset of a new beginning.
Moses went to the mountain of the Lord in the Sinai wilderness and stayed there for 40 days and nights in prayer and fasting (Exodus 24:18).
The giant, Goliath, taunted the army of Israel for 40 days, morning and evening. After his legendary defeat of Goliath, David was no longer viewed as merely a shepherd; he had become a mighty warrior and man of valor, and he eventually became king of Israel.
And most importantly, Jesus fasted for 40 days (Matthew 4:2, Luke 4:2) following the first time he prayed in public at his baptism (Luke 3:21). While lifting his hands and blessing the disciples, he ascended to heaven 40 days after his resurrection (Luke 24:50, Acts 1:3).
Forty days of prayer and fasting will change your life! Forty days of prayer and fasting will change our church! It is time to dream big dreams and set our goals high for the future of the ATCC because we trust in God for He, and only He, can accomplish these things. Please join us as we start 2018 off with 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting!
