Peggy’s Ponderings
 "30 Years"

I was posting some appointment dates on my calendar when I realized my thirty year anniversary is coming up. I asked myself if my husband was still alive what would we do on our anniversary. This also got me thinking where would I be now? I wouldn’t have started drinking and smoking. I would be still holding all my anger and hatred for those who hurt me. I would still be angry with God. But I also wouldn’t have gone to AA at this church and met the Pastor and all of you. I know God works in mysterious ways . I can’t say it was God’s plan for my husband to pass away but I do know where I would still be if he hadn’t passed away. I would still be angry with God and the world. But I can smile and laugh and have God back in my heart. We have to turn negatives into positives. This may sound odd. IU have to tell myself it was his time. I have to get on with my life without him. But his passing gave me a new family and friends. He is happy where he is and I am happy where I am. I know it is hard to see the good side of bad things that happen. It has taken me four years to get where I am now. I still miss my husband but now I can move on. I know I don’t have to ask myself where would I be now. I am right where I am supposed to be. I am with God and my forever family!
December 1 & 2, 2018
The lights dim. A hush spreads throughout the church. The Multitude enters, engulfing the listeners, softly humming “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. Thus will begin the 98th annual presentation of Handel’s “Messiah” by the Tulsa-area Lutheran churches on Saturday & Sunday, December 1 & 2, 2018. All who enjoy singing are invited to join the chorus! No tryout required! If you have questions about singing in the chorus, contact Donna Boggs at 918-697-7822 or 918-258-5201, or your congregational representative for information and rehearsal schedules. Singers are urged to attend all 5 rehearsals, the dress rehearsal,
and all 4 presentations.
We invite all who have sung in past years to join us again. We encourage everyone, especially youth and young adults, to come and learn this beautiful music and help us lead this unique musical presentation that approximately 1000 people attend each year. Include yourself in the experience of sight, sound, and a deep and wonderful feeling of telling the Advent/Christmas story using Scripture, beautiful music, drama, and pageantry.
Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018. We will practice from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at First Lutheran Church, 13th & Utica Ave., Tulsa. We will practice each Sunday afternoon until the presentation dates of Dec. 1 & 2.
