It is the season for fireworks so we are lighting up Red Sky Stage with a spectacular lineup for July.

Friday, July 5. 7 PM. John Standefer

Fingerstyle Guitar

John Standefer is a true master of fingerstyle guitar. He began playing music very early on the drums, mandolin, and violin, taking up the guitar in 1963. A world-class fingerstyle guitarist, John is the winner of the 2002 National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship and the Open Division winner of the 2004 International Home of the Legends Competition.

Sunday, July 7 and Every Sunday, 1-4 PM  Blissfest Strings Jam Session

Bring your  guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, kazoo, washboard, penny whistle or whatever  you play  on Sunday afternoon and play and sing along with our friendly, supportive group.  Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level.  If you don't play an instrument but you love music, join the fun and listen or sing along.

We meet every week (except a few holidays, like the Fourth of July) so come whenever and as often as you can.  We go around the room and take turns leading songs and we all play along the best we can.  A perfect event for playing old favorites, originals, covers, or trying out a song you are working on.

Microphones, instrument connections and sound system.provided so you may plug in if you wish.

Admission Free, Snacks available.  Optional donations accepted.

 

Thursday, July 11 and  Every Thursday, 7-00 pm  Fun Blues Harmonica Class

Instructor:  Steve August

It may be a tiny instrument but the Blues Harmonica is BIG on sound and style! Practice the basic moves and   patterns  that bring your harmonica to life, including sweet single note melodies, foot tapping rhythms, blues scales and riffs and bending note secrets.  Get an intro to major harmonica players and their styles, from the early originators to the contemporary players.  Small class size insures that you get lots of individual attention.  

No prior musical experience is needed.  Any harmonica in the key of "C" is acceptable for class.  Open to ALL harmonica players from raw beginners to legendary bluesfolk..

Friday, July 12 thru Sunday, July 14, 39th Annual Blissfest Music Festival

Everybody  (including Marty) will be spending the weekend at Blissfest so we are shutting down Red Sky Stage for ta few days and heading out  to the festival.  Come put and join in the fun!  Details at the Blissfest Festival Website

Saturday, July 20, 7 PM, Annie and Rod Capps Band

Blissfest Folk and Roots Mini-Concert Series

On a musical journey that began in 1982, Annie and Rod Capps have established themselves as well-respected songwriters, musicians and performers, with two albums topping the Folk-DJ charts, multiple Detroit Music Award nominations, and as 2-time Kerrville New Folk Finalists.  

The Capps’ sound meets at the intersection of Americana & Folk with rock, jazz and bluegrass influences. With they 8th studio recording “When They Fall” Annie & Rod continue to explore their love of blending diverse styles to create a fresh and unique amalgamation all while sticking to their narrative “songs about broken things and poignant little ponderings delivered with a rootsy vibe, a touch of twang and soulful groove”.

Acoustic Guitar and Folk Harp

Blissfest Folk and Roots Mini-Concert Series

Kristin Rebecca wins over audiences with her dynamic, multi-faceted approach to pop and Americana influenced contemporary folk music.

While bringing colorful musical narratives to life with her angelic, emotional, trained voice, the Maryland based singer-songwriter alternates between her two primary instruments, the acoustic guitar, and the folk harp.

The legendary folk singer Joan Baez is one of Kristin’s primary influences.  “I have found from playing thousands of shows around the country that people really enjoy contemporary folk music,” she says, “and it’s gratifying to know that the idea of the storytelling artist like my heroes Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and John Denver is still alive and well and appreciated.

Saturday, July 27th,  8 PM, Doors Open 7 PM,  Hell On Heels Presents 

Hell on Heels is lots of fun for everyone!  The theme of the July 2019 edition of this lip syncing, dancing, and   singing  adventure will be announced soon.  It is guaranteed to be filled with loads of comedy and just the right amount of crassness!  Drag Queens have been a huge part of our culture for decades.  Let us show you why!!
