Red Sky Stage Marches On!

OK, so it is a pun but it is much more.  This month we March forward into the future with new events, a revitalization of an old event, a Go Fund Me campaign to help build a secure future here in Bay Harbor (where you can actually see the red sky at night out the window of our stage) and, of course, some great concerts.  So, what are we waiting for, strike up the band and let the parade begin!

As always, full  and current details of all events are available  on our WEBSITE

First, a brand new and exciting  weekly event:
Wednesday, March 4 and Every Wednesday, 7-8 PM
 Anishinaabe Dance Class

Hosted by Roberta Shalifoe, CEO & Artistic Director of the Eagle Spirit Dancers

This beginner dance class will teach you the unique and exhilarating dance styles from the beautiful culture of the Anishinaabe Tribe also known as Ottawa, Chippewa, and, Odawa People!  The class is fun and will teach basic and more advanced footwork.

This class is for women and girls. Students will learn Women's Traditional and Women's Jingle dance styles.  Both of these traditional dances are relatively easy for anyone to master.   The native dance experience is energetic and does wonderful things for the dancer's health and fitness as well as for her mental and physical strength.

The instructor, Roberta Shalifoe is an experienced Native dancer and performer.  With  her dance troupee, Eagle Spirit Dancers, she has performed all over Northern Michigan, including Red Sky Stage,  Blissfest and soon at the Hiawatha Festival in Marquette this summer.  She has also performed individually at pow wows virtually her entire life.

Class sessions are $10 per person payable at each class.  For more information or to sign up, call 231-487-0000231-373-0032 or visit www.redskystage,com.

Tuesday, March 17 and the 3rd Tuesday of Every Month, 7-10 PM,  Poetry Night

Yes, our friendly monthly poetry group get together is back!  Thank you to well known local poet and playwright Bob Vance for offering to host.

Our first meeting on March 17 will include a short brainstorming session of ideas for Red Sky Stage Poetry Nights: How can we make this fun and important to poets’ success? We want to give poets a reason to write something, what’s the best and most positive way to do this?

The important thing is that this very popular Red Sky Stage event is about to return at our new home in Bay Harbor.  Start  (or keep on) writing!

To help defray costs of the use of the space, we’re asking for donations. $5 suggested.

And now, a personal word to our sponsors, all of you!
I  started a Go Fund Me campaign for Red Sky Stage a little over a week ago to help keep Red Sky Stage alive while we rebuild our audience and get everybody used to our outstanding new location.  A heartfelt thanks to the many of you who have already generously contributed and spread the word.  You have already donated almost $1,500 and that money is right now hard at work helping Red Sky Stage survive and grow.

Please continue to help the campaign move forward by telling your friends and social media contacts. so together we can reach out to all the good folks who appreciate and depend on Red Sky Stage's service to the community.  To visit the campaign website, simply CLICK HERE.  You can also copy the following URL to pass on to your friends or add to your posts.

The easiest and most rewarding way to contribute to the future of Red Sky Stage is to attend our concerts and events and ask your friends to join you.

Thank you all very much,
Marty Scott
