The Companions of the Cave, and their dog.
The contemporary Syrian artist Anas Al Braehe is famous for his series of paintings depicting sleeping refugees. In his paintings, the refugees appear safe, warm, and protected, if only momentarily, from the worries and problems of everyday life. The Companions of the Cave escaped death by falling asleep. You might know the story but probably have never paid close attention to its rhetorical elements and narrative structure.
 
Legends and stories have attached to them multiple layers of understandings, lost in time. An article explores how the story of the Companions of the Cave, and their dog, can be used to better understand Ancient constellation traditions.

Some months ago, I experienced for a couple of weeks the so-called "biphasic sleep", a sleeping pattern established in the Middle Ages. While not enjoying it at all, it gave birth to a newsletter edition about sleep, pyjamas, and sleepless nights.
 
I'll be on holiday for the next couple of weeks.
