Hi there,

Here are a few things I wanted to share with you this week:
  • Mercer Island Holiday Lights at Mercerdale Park and the Firehouse Munch is tonight! It's a favorite local holiday event made possible this year by community donations and volunteer support. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm with lights and music at Mercerdale Park followed by food and more entertainment at the nearby Fire Station.
  • As an annual tradition, the Mercer Island Citizen of the Year turns on the lights during the Holiday Lights celebration. This year, Lisa and Rino Caruccio have the honor. (Mercer Island Reporter)
  • Mercer Island's First Friday Art Walk also takes place this evening. Don't miss the new Persian Garden exhibit at Suzanne Zahr Gallery and the Poetic Moon exhibit at Clarke & Clarke Art + Artifacts.
  • The Mercer Island Christmas Tree Lot is now open and has a great selection of beautiful Noble and Douglas Firs. Proceeds benefit Mercer Island Youth & Family Services and Lions Club charitable giving.
  • Attention transit riders: you can now apply for a permitted parking spot in the Mercer Island downtown Park & Ride lot. (Sound Transit)
  • The Mercer Island School District is seeking nominations for its annual Pathfinder awards, which celebrates graduates of Mercer Island High School "whose achievements, strength of character, and citizenship inspire and challenge today’s youth." Nominations due January 10th. (Mercer Island School District)
  • There's a full slate of local holiday events happening this weekend, including: Holiday Lights & the Firehouse Munch; Mercer Island High School Holiday Bazaar; Island Girls Choir & Prep Choir performances of "Christmas Town;" Hanukkah Community Concert & Celebration at the SJCC; and The Dickens Carolers performance at the library.
  • Additional weekend events include "The True Tales of Puget Sound," a Mercer Island Historical Society event, and a Snow Soup Puppet Show.
  • Check out all upcoming holiday events in our 2019 My MI Holiday Event Guide.
  • And kids, don't forget to write your letters to Santa. Drop them off in Santa's mailbox outside of Island Treats by December 20th, and you'll get a reply by Christmas!
Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a festive and wonderful weekend!
