The New Hampshire Interlibrary Loan (ILL) System
will resume on September 15th! 


Here's what you need to know: 
  • You may begin submitting ILL requests now, but they will not be searched until the 15th. 
  • The van system will begin deliveries on September 21st and they will be following their regular schedule. 
  • Safety is our priority as well as the State's, and the State has established additional quarantine guidelines for ILL materials:
    • Items will be quarantined for 4 days before they leave the loaning library and will be quarantined for another 4 days when they arrive here in Barrington. 
    • This means that ILL requests will take longer than usual.  Please allow at least 10-14 days for your ILL to arrive. 
  • Some libraries in the state will not be providing ILL services so we may have fewer options for loans.
  • Due to the already extended time frame for loans due to quarantining, libraries may not be willing to renew ILL items.  Please pick up items in a timely fashion and utilize them within the time period given by the loaning library.
  • If you require multiple copies for a book group you should request them at least 6 weeks before your meeting in order to provide time for the items to travel/quarantine, and leave you a month to read. Again, renewals may not be possible.
  • You can submit ILL requests online  or you may come to the Library and complete a paper request.
ILL items will be bagged or wrapped for you to pick up and you will be notified when they are ready. You may choose to pick up your items via curbside pickup or you may come into the building. Remember masks are required when in the Library and a total of 6 patrons are allowed inside at a time. Please tell staff that you are picking up an ILL item when you call for curbside as they may be bagged separately.
