A Note from the Director
It is always a joy to hear cries of glee as children run around the Catholic Worker playing. We have a house full of guests, a packed ESL classroom, and hundreds of people coming for food every week. We also just finished collecting information from 326 children and over 100 adults so they can receive Christmas gifts from parish and community sponsors this December. On Wednesday, November 2, we will celebrate a Mass for Día de los Muertos, and we continue to host Mass on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. While we celebrate an abundance of love and community, we hope and pray for more material resources.

We have a few specific needs for our guests – size three diapers (other sizes welcome) and twin sized mattresses. As winter comes, we also appreciate donations of coats and blankets to give to our friends on the street. Our most vital need in this moment is for financial donations so we can pay our bills and continue to keep our programs running. Click here to donate online, or mail a check to P.O. Box 19277, Oakland, CA 94619. If you are unable to help us in this way, please keep us in your prayers and consider talking to your friends about how they might be able to support us. We are deeply moved by your generosity.
During this election season, we also ask all of you who are eligible to vote to keep in mind the well-being of the most vulnerable among us as you make choices about which candidates and what legislation to support. Remember to read through the whole ballot, as many state and local measures can have a significant impact. Thank you all for being instruments of peace in this world.
