A Note from the Director
Dear friends,
Over the last 30 years I have had many jobs at the Oakland Catholic Worker, most recently as Interim Director from January 1, 2015 to the present. While I will continue to be involved as vice-chair of the Círculo (our Board) and fundraising coordinator, I am very excited to announce that Amber McChesney-Young became our newest director on August 1, 2016! Amber has been with us since June 2015, and has worked closely with guests and staff in our accompaniment program and as our program coordinator. Amber is well prepared for this job and I look forward to working closely with her.

The last year and a half have been full of many accomplishments for the Oakland Catholic Worker. We now have a wonderful staff of seven, including five staff members with over a year of experience at the OCW (Tom is beginning his fourth year with us!) and two new staff members who arrived in June to help us expand our capacity to serve the community. We have also strengthened our accompaniment program, begun housing families with children, and continued to feed hundreds every week through our grocery and meals programs.
This is an exciting time at the OCW as we move ahead with plans to install a heater, new windows, roof, and external stucco, and continue to see growth in our ability to serve the thousands who come to us for food, housing, shelter, and loving community. We also look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, and are planning a series of events to commemorate the occasion. Thank you so much for your support, without which none of this is possible. With prayers for you, your families, and those you love from our entire Oakland Catholic Worker family, Bob Lassalle-Klein
