Ceretto Barolo & Barbareso

"The 2019s are potent, tightly wound wines that will thrill readers who appreciate the nuance, subtlety and structure of Nebbiolo. Today, the 2019s show elements of youthful austerity that, at times, recall vintages such as 2016, 2005 and 1999". - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

The Ceretto winery was founded in the 1930s by Riccardo Ceretto in the town of Alba. In the 1960s Bruno and Marcello Ceretto started buying vineyards. Little by little, the family became one of the biggest landowners of the region (average size of a winery is 1ha in Barbaresco) with a “Burgundian” vision of making crus instead of one wine. The winery produces 17 different crus. Ceretto then developed hospitality welcoming thousands of clients every year. The estate also owns the only 3 Michelin Star restaurant of the Region.

The latest releases include what Antonio Galloni describes as a "super-classic Barbaresco", Barolo from the outstanding 2019 vintage and a handful of rare magnums from the old vine San Lorenzo.

2019 Barolo Bricco Rocche

£840.00 per 6 Bot Case, in bond
£1024.07 Duty & VAT paid

The 2019 Barolo Bricco Roche is fabulous, and also one of the best wines I have tasted in more than 20 years of visiting. Soaring aromatics and bright, layered fruit all meld together in a Barolo of uncommon elegance. Dried flowers, spice, tobacco and cedar are all wonderfully alive in the glass. This potent, virile Barolo is simply lights out. Elegance and power are rarely well integrated in a young Barolo. The 2019 is a wine of real breadth and resonance. Superb. 2029-2044

2019 Barolo Brunate

£588.00 per 6 Bot Case, in bond

The 2019 Barolo Brunate is gorgeous. We have clearly moved from Barbaresco and into Barolo in this tasting. Rich, creamy and inviting, the Brunate possesses gorgeous depth and striking textural resonance. Red fruit, spice, tobacco and cedar open first, followed by a range of savory and floral top notes that extend effortlessly. There's terrific energy and class here. 2029-2044
