High Speed Internet Offered in Rural Areas
Residents of The Enterprise are now being offered Fixed Wireless Inernet in rural and under served areas of Choctaw County. AT&T announced residents in Choctaw County are included in the initial rural and under served locations in Mississippi to which AT&T has extended Fixed Wireless Internet as part of its FCC Connect America Fund Commitment.  As part of this commitment, AT&T plans to reach over 133,000 locations with this technology across Mississippi by 2020.

Mayo Flynt, President of AT&T Mississippi, made the announcement on Thursday, August 3 at an AT&T cell phone tower in the northern part of Choctaw County. AT&T's Fixed Wireless Internet service delivers a home internet connection with download speeds of at least 10 mbps. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on customers' homes or businesses. This is an efficient way to deliver high-quality internet to customers in rural areas.

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley, who was in attendance for the announcement, stated, "This is about education. It’s economic development, it’s about making sure that our rural communities have the exact same treatment in services as does the urban areas of Mississippi.”

The Enterprise is committed to being an advocate for rural areas to gain access to high speed internet for growth and innovation in the local economy.
The Enterprise of Mississippi would like to commend the City of Eupora for pursuing and receiving a Small Municipality/Limited Population County Grant to pave Industrial Park Road in the Eupora Industrial Park. Paving Industrial Park Road improves the interior roads of the industrial park for existing and future manufacturers. Plymouth Tube (shown in background of photo), Tilsatec and Kershenstine Beef Jerky are tenants of the park along with the vacant 50,000 SF Alloyd Building and 100+ acres of property.
Director Completes Year 2 of
Community Development Institute
Lara Bowman, Executive Director of The Enterprise of Mississippi, has recently completed the Year 2 Class of the 31st Annual Community Development Institute (CDI) at the University of Central Arkansas on August 4, 2017.

CDI trains community leaders and economic development professionals on how to strengthen their local economies and build communities. This is achieved by developing the ability of participants to identify community assets, set goals, encourage collaboration and partnerships with stakeholders, and bring communities, organizations and businesses together to respond to a broad range of economic and quality of life issues.

The complete institute experience is a three year program, with one week of training per year. Participants move through the program curriculum in cohorts, and are exposed to a comprehensive applied approach to the field of community and economic development. Upon completion of the program participants have the option of testing for their Professional Community Economic Developer (PCED) designation.

Bowman stated, "I appreciate the support of my Board of Directors for allowing me to attending this program. The value of the programming and connections made with community leaders across the south make this a worthwhile program to attend and learn how I can further assist my communities."

More information about CDI can be found at www.uca.edu/cdi.

Support the future growth of The Enterprise
The Enterprise is seeking external funding and kicking off a fundraising campaign. We will focus this next year on making improvements to existing industrial property and planning long-term to acquire new property for industrial development. We will take a closer look at workforce development in our area to strengthen training programs and access to resources for employers and job applicants to improve and expand their skill set. All while continuing to market and build relationships to increase knowledge of The Enterprise to external partners. Your support is needed to continue to build off the success of the last year.
