The Enterprise Welcomes Gun Dog Supply

The Enterprise is pleased to announce Gun Dog Supply (GDS) has chosen Mathiston, MS, as the new site for their company headquarters and e-commerce fulfillment center.

GDS will renovate the former Red Kap factory located on Highway 82, and plans to open in the Spring of 2018. The initial capital investment will be $1.7 million. The renovated facility will be 73,000 square feet on 20-acres. GDS selected this site for expansion earlier this year with help from Mathiston and Webster County community leaders.

Steve Snell, president of Gun Dog Supply said, "This new facility will allow us to grow and better serve our customers. The people of Mathiston and Webster county have been extremely helpful, and offer a very business-friendly environment. We couldn't be more excited to relocate our company headquarters here with room to grow and eventually create new jobs.”

Gun Dog Supply is a leading online retailer of hunting dog training supplies, based in Starkville, MS, since 1999. GDS was founded by Warner and Anne Snell in 1972, in Ridgeland, MS, as a mail order catalog business, and transformed into an e-commerce business in 1997 launching GunDogSupply.com. Their sons, Rob and Steve Snell, run the company today which has 55 full-time employees.

Lara Bowman, Director of The Enterprise stated, "We are proud to see that Gun Dog Supply recognized the advantages of doing business in Webster County. We look forward to being a part of their future growth."

The Enterprise hosts MDA Project Managers

The Enterprise along with support of the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association invited project managers from the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) to tour Choctaw and Webster Counties on Thursday, May 18. MDA project managers work to locate new industrial prospects to Mississippi. MDA works closely with local economic development agencies like The Enterprise to provide information on their sites and buildings for prospective industrial tenants. In addition, MDA serves and supports existing businesses in the State of Mississippi.

The tour began at Red Hills Mine located in the Red Hills Ecoplex in Ackerman. Red Hills Mine General Manager, Dave Liffrig welcomed MDA project manages and discussed the impact of the mine and power plant to the local economy. A tour of the mine followed focusing on the mining operation and reclamation processes. Red Hills Mine provided a fantastic lunch for attendees while The Enterprise Director, Lara Bowman, gave a presentation on the region's target industries. Bowman delivered to project managers information on the region from the recently completed workforce and target market analysis.

Up next were tours of the Red Hills Ecoplex, Eupora Industrial Park and the Alloyd Building. The day concluded with a tailgate and dinner at the MSU vs. LSU baseball game. Strategic partners from around the region and MSU joined The Enterprise at the tailgate to network and visit with MDA staff.

The goals of this tour was to have project managers become familiar with the region's industrial property, available buildings and existing industry while making the strategic connection of proximity to MSU and the golden triangle region.

Thank you to all volunteers and elected officials who help to make this tour a success.
