Industry to Industry Meetings Held
The last two quarterly industry meetings were held in October and November for 2017. The topic of discussion of the October 10 meeting focused around the upcoming job fair. MS Dept. of Employment Services, Area Director Daphne James, gave a presentation on how the MDES website and WIN Job Centers can support local employers in finding employees.  MDES offers tools to allow employers to search the workforce around them and identify available candidates for open positions. Thank you to Choctaw Regional Medical Center for allowing us to use their conference meeting space for this event.
On November 28, Ryan Miller with the University of Mississippi, Center for Manufacturing Excellence presented to industry leaders. Miller shared how CME brings students from multiple disciplines together to earn a manufacturing minor preparing them for the workforce. In addition, CME partners and works with industrial employers in Mississippi to solve and offer manufacturing solutions. Special thanks to Skip Scaggs, Director of the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association for moderating and hosting this meeting.

The purpose of the quarterly industry to industry meetings is to inform, engage and connect industry leaders over a common topic/interest to share resources and collaborate. The Enterprise looks forward to the 2018 series of industry meetings.

Workforce Focus of Fall Intiatives
As you can probably see from reading this newsletter thus far, the focus of The Enterprise this fall has been on workforce. With the annual job fair held each October multiple programs for employers and job seekers were implemented to support these efforts.

A resume class was held for all local residents wanting to improve their resume and fist impression skills. MSU Extension Service provided the instructors to help local residents update and edit their resume. This class was held at The Depot in the workforce development computer lab provided by Holmes Community College.

Employers in the area learned how to use the MDES website and Win Job Centers as a search tool for the right applicant/s, and not just wait for applicants to come to them at the Industry to Industry meeting in October. MDES was at the job fair to support to job seekers and industrial employers.

At the job fair, Holmes Community College Workforce Development recruited for an Entry Level Manufacturing Class. This was a 40 hour class scheduled for the first week of November. The purpose of this class was to provide entry level employees with basic manufacturing skills, Career Readiness Certification and life skills training to be successful with entering the workforce. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet the minimum 10 participant requirement to hold the class in November. Four individuals were able to gain their CRC. The Enterprise of Mississippi will be working with HCC Workforce Development and local employers to offer this course again in 2018.

Economic Development in a Picture
The timber industry is flourishing in The Enterprise of Mississippi. Yellow pine lumber is being sent out via rail on the KCS line in Ackerman from Southeastern Timber Products LLC. While trucks loaded with hardwoods are caught waiting for the train to pass. The Enterprise counties are located in the heart of Mississippi's wood basket.
Support of The Enterprise Needed
The Enterprise is seeking external funding and kicking off a fundraising campaign. We will focus this next year on making improvements to existing industrial property and planning long-term to acquire new property for industrial development. We will take a closer look at workforce development in our area to strengthen training programs and access to resources for employers and job applicants to improve and expand their skill set. All while continuing to market and build relationships to increase knowledge of The Enterprise to external partners. Your support is needed to continue to build off the success of the last year.
