CTLT Summer Institute



The CTLT Summer Institute focuses on the fundamentals of teaching and learning issues and is designed to help participants enhance their understanding of sound teaching practices, as well as provide them with a number of practical ideas that they can then implement in their teaching.
 

Welcome to Teaching at UBC

August 22, 2016

This session will introduce new faculty to UBC with an overview of the university’s student demographics, teaching and learning-related strategic priorities, funding opportunities, and resources. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from fellow faculty members and connect with other new faculty. More info

Developing Course Goals and Learning ObjectivesAugust 22, 2016

Explore course goals and learning objectives, including what they are, how to create them, and their relationship to learning activities, evaluation, and assessment practices. Developing a Learning-Centered SyllabusAugust 23, 2016

In this session, explore the characteristics and benefits of a learning-centered syllabus. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to explain the purpose(s) of a learning-centered syllabus, list items that might be included in a learning-centered syllabus, and critically appraise whether a syllabus is learning-centered. Approaching Teaching as a Scholarly ActivityAugust 23, 2016

LT Hub Open House

Learn more about the wide range of services and support the Learning Technology Hub offers. Talk to skilled and knowledgeable LT educational consultants about integrating learning technologies into face-to-face, blended, or online courses. This Facilitation Basics workshop is meant for TA Training Coordinators or senior TAs who will be delivering facilitated sessions focused on teaching enhancement for TAs. The workshop is also open to all graduate students who are interested in getting involved in TA Training in their departments. The workshop will focus on developing key skills for designing and facilitating workshops. More info
