Using In-Class Student Behaviour Data to Inform Predictive Analytics

Student behaviour during class is being monitored at the University of Michigan using the Echo360 Active Learning Platform. This presentation discusses how these data are combined with data from other on-campus and off-campus sources and mined to develop models for predicting student success based on a student’s background and behaviours during class. The goal is to provide instructors with evidence-based guidance on how to identify students at risk early in a semester. More info

The CTLT Summer Institute focuses on the fundamentals of teaching and learning issues and is designed to help participants enhance their understanding of sound teaching practices, as well as provide them with a number of practical ideas that they can then implement in their teaching. This year’s Summer Institute will be held August 22-25, 2016.

ComPAIR WorkshopJune 23, 2016

ComPAIR is a new online learning technology for peer review that asks students to answer a question, then compare pairs of their peers’ answers to identify which is “better” based on instructor-set criteria. Students provide detailed feedback on their peers’ answers and reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of their own answer. In this workshop, learn more about the tool, explore best practices, and gets hands-on experience. More info

Writing Across the Curriculum Summer 2016 Workshop Series

The Writing Across the Curriculum Program (WAC) is a TLEF-funded collaboration between the Faculty of Science and the Writing Centre designed to support the teaching and learning of writing in the sciences. This summer, they will be offering a series of workshops to support educators in developing skills and resources to more effectively teach science-specific writing in their courses.
