Physics Course Adopts an Open Textbook and Saves Students Over $90,000
UBC students are collectively saving $90,000 this year in a physics course where instructors have adopted an open textbook. “They get to the learning faster,” said Georg Rieger, an instructor who teaches the online version of the course which is offered in the spring.
Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund - Call for Proposals
The Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) has announced a call for proposals for 2016 small project grants. The TLEF is seeking projects that will enrich student learning through innovative educational enhancements. Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded to successful proposals.
CTLT spoke with Andreas Reinhardt, the head of Innovation Management at the Educational Development and Technology (LET) unit, in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), about the EduApp, a mobile and web application that helps students manage everyday university life.
Hosted from mid November to early December, the Winter Institute is a time for colleagues to come together during the mid-academic year and review innovative teaching practices. Workshops also focus on sharing new teaching trends and approaches and provide an opportunity to network with the UBC teaching and learning community.
