I’m writing you today because this morning we made the tough call to cut short our Custom Middle School Summer Camp. You and your students have told us that this has been one of the best camps ever, which makes this decision even harder. However, due to a growing number of COVID-19 exposures at the Middle School camp, we decided this was a necessary step in order to reduce the impact on our students and staff. Throughout camp, we took precautions that included testing of staff and quickly quarantining symptomatic individuals. From the beginning, we have been committed to the health and safety of you and your students, and that is why we believe bringing them home is the best, though unfortunate, option.
Upstate campuses will work with parent's leaders to ensure students get home. For the rest of our locations, buses will depart around 1:30 PM ET tomorrow July 31st, and return to Mount Pleasant Summerville, and Freedom Church. If you are uncomfortable with this timeline, you are welcome to come to camp and pick up your student prior to that time.
It is recommended that if your child is experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, that they are tested as soon as possible. It is also encouraged to follow a 10-day quarantine, and receive a COVID test after 5 days of the initial exposure. If the test is negative, it would clear your child to return after the 10-day mark. If you do not want your child to be tested, your child will need a 14-day quarantine. If you are unsure whether you need to be tested, please call your healthcare provider.
Pastor Jon Hohm and Lisa Surratt will host a zoom call today at 4:00 PM ET to answer any questions you may have. To join the call, please click here.
Parents, we are thankful for the trust you have placed in us. If you would like more information or to talk to a member of our Summer Camp staff, you can call (843) 481-0997.
