Week in Review

The RIMPA team have been hard at it behind the scenes this week to bring you additional benefits as members. VIRTUAL RIMPA is not just a dream but is now officially a reality!

We kicked off the week with the delivery of 2 x virtual training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, followed by a live webinar Theory vs Reality – Is It Actually Worth Planning, presented by Paul Fechner and to top it off the RIMPA Community forum platform officially went live last night.

If you have not already accessed the site, we encourage you to log in and enjoy this new space where you can connect, collaborate and converse in an informal space. More details are below on how to access the site.

RIMPA Community Launches Today
 
Today saw the launch of the long awaited RIMPA Community. Members should have received an email by now providing them with a link and instructions on how to get started. (Instructions have been included in this weekly update in case you didn’t get your email)
The new Community is a replacement for the old Listserv that we all enjoyed, but WOW, it looks very different to that. The new Community offers you the ability to seek advice, share ideas and network like the old Listserv, but now you can also:
  • Create your own profile and share information about yourself with our members
  • Create your own community about a specific topic or member group and invite others to join into the discussions
  • Include attachments, videos or photos to posts
  • Chose to receive emails regarding posts in real time or at the end of each day or not at all. (how good is it to have a choice)
  • And much more that we are all still learning about.
I recommend that you all take the time to have a look at the community and set up your profile and don’t forget to include a photo (of you or something that represents you). Can’t wait to see you all in the Community..
 
Board Meetings
With COVID-19 restrictions the Board have been meeting virtually on a monthly basis to enable them all to be informed of how we are servicing our members during this strange time.
It was agreed that virtual meetings have a permanent place in the Board schedule with in person meetings to be used for strategy planning, during RIMPA Live and when or if matters require robust discussion.

RIMPA Live 2020
The Board addressed alternate options for RIMPA Live 2020 if travel restrictions and social distancing remain in place. It was agreed that an event of some format will take place with the possibility of a hybrid approach (virtual and in person) to allow everyone to attend. A final decision on the format will occur at the end of June allowing 3 months for delegates, sponsors and vendors to prepare and attend.

Independent Director
Interviews for a new independent director are currently in progress. The evaluation panel consisting of Board members and a Branch representative had a good number of applicants to consider and are following a rigorous process in order to appoint the right candidate.
 
National Call for Membership Upgrades
In this time of isolation RIMPA are promoting that members take the time to complete the online forms in order to obtain or upgrade professional status.
In the coming weeks a direct Branch contact will be provided to all members for direct questions about gaining status.
 
CPD Update
It is time to consider updating your CPD points in readiness for the 30th June.
Due to the limitation of professional development opportunities as a result of COVID-19 professional members are only required to submit 30 points to maintain their status for 2019-20. This is for this year only, so please take advantage of the provided virtual training sessions and webinars available to all to contribute to your CPD requirements.

Steps to access the community:
  1. Set your password
  2. Head to the RIMPA Community Website
  3. The very first time you login to the site, you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions. You must scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "I Agree" button in order to use the site and interact with the community.
  4. Update your privacy and subscription settings in the "My Settings" area. The top right of the screen will show your Profile.
  5. Ask a question of your peers. It's super simple to do, just start a discussion here. Since the site is moderated, no spam or marketing messages will be accepted through the system. In a nutshell, a post must add to the body of knowledge for the community. If it does not, it'll likely be rejected. 
  6. By default, you are subscribed to the Open Forum in the Daily Digest, which means you'll receive no more than one email message each weekday morning that will contain all of the previous day's postings. (Monday's digest will include the postings made Friday-Sunday.) If you wish to, change your subscription settings head to your profile and choose ‘My Account’.
  7. Feel free to investigate the new RIMPA Community and navigate to the Help/FAQ Page for tips and tricks to help your experience with our new community platform!

Online Training

As most of you may be aware, RIMPA has started to deliver training workshops delivered via videoconferencing. These sessions have been extremely popular so book in now as spots are filling!

Upcoming Sessions:

Implementing and upgrading your eDRMS (14/05/20)
Developing a risk management matrix in readiness for digitisation (12/05/20)
Change Management for information management projects (19/05/20)
Identifying and developing eDRMS business requirements (21/05/20)
Developing a records management strategic plan (4/06/20) 

The member rate for each session is $150.00 (Ex GST). Each session is between 3.5 – 4 hours. The non-member rate is $250.00 (Ex GST) per session.

2019/20 RIMPA BRANCH EXCELLENCE AWARDS


The 2019/20 RIMPA Branch Excellence Awards will close on 31 May 2020.  This year’s award season has kicked off with the RIMPA Branch Excellence Awards and will culminate in the awarding of the Company Outstanding Achievement Awards in October 2020.

The Branch Excellence Awards honour RIMPA members who have made significant contributions to the advancement of our profession and who are leaders in the records and information management industry.  They recognise and celebrate organisations and individuals that implement initiatives and industry leading services that raise the visibility of records and information management across industries.
RIMPA branches will present the winners of the respective awards at their Information Awareness Month event throughout the months of July and August.
