March 2020
During this time of significant uncertainty, RIMPA will be here for you - our members.  Whilst we understand you are absolutely stretched in trying to support your own industries and professions at this time, we are committed to continuing to deliver options for you to access information and provide forums for discussions to help you do this. The RIMPA team are currently investigating online learning options and virtual event engagement opportunities.
Every day is changing, and it is a challenging time for all of us. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and we will provide regular updates and build our online capacity in order to support you during the coming weeks and months.
Wishing you, your family and colleagues a safe journey through these difficult times.
Stay safe, from the RIMPA team.

In light of escalating concern regarding containment of COVID-19 (coronavirus) I wanted to provide you with a further update in relation to upcoming RIMPA branch events and meetings. Like many businesses across Australia, we continue to monitor the Australian Government Department of Health web site as well as the World Health Organisation guidance for any and all updates regarding the virus and appropriate actions to take.

RIMPA IAM Events
The Board and RIMPA staff held an emergency meeting yesterday in regard to the current events unfolding and the importance of ensuring that our members, staff and all stakeholders health are our priority. A decision has been made to move all RIMPA IAM events to July/August 2020, pending availability of venues and presenters. Further information and updates will be provided regularly in relation to this.

Training/Workshops
We are working to run these as scheduled via video conferencing link and have communicated directly with the current attendees in regard to the method/delivery of the training.

We thank you for your understanding during this time and encourage our members and supporters to practice good hygiene. Wash your hands well, cover your mouth and nose, sneeze or cough into your elbow, and do not come to work if you are not feeling well..

We live in a world filled with information and year after year we are faced with unimaginable growth of that information. Domo’s Data Never Sleeps 2018 tells us every minute or every day a staggering 12,986,111 texts are sent, the weather channel receives 18,055,555 forecast requests and that 3,877,140 google searches are conducted.  You read that correctly ….

How secure are you really?

As Records and Information Managers we prioritise the security of the Information assets entrusted to our care.  We implement security access, we advocate a clean desk policy, Code of Conduct instructs staff on not discussing business records in non secure places such as buses and stops and we complete Information Security Classification Frameworks.  We are aware of scams and tell others not to provide personal data to others they are unsure of.

Found yourself In Isolation?

Top 5 Tips from us!

  1. Head to the RIMPA TV to keep up to date with your Industry and find past and present recordings including all the past presentations from RIMPA Live 2019.
  2. Start posting on our Members Forum
  3. Read the online iQ -(past editions are also available) or submit an article here
  4. Follow RIMPA Socials
  5. Work on your 15 second elevator pitch (you will never know when you will need it!)

Or found yourself working from home?
Top 5 Tips from us!

  1. Pretend like you are going to the office. Complete your normal morning ritual such as early morning exercise, make (or go get) coffee and wear office clothes (not pyjamas).
  2. Start work immediately at the time you would normally log on.
  3. Structure your day like your typical office day including allowing yourself to have tea breaks and a lunch break. Technology can help with this such as calendar reminders etc.
  4. Dedicate a specific work space (do not work on the couch with netflix on).
  5. Log out of all your Social Media Accounts during your 'Work from home day'.
