Welcome to April's Member Monthly Newsletter.


It certainly has been a busy month here in RIMPA world with us all working hard to implement some new online platforms that will enhance and improve the member benefits we can deliver to you, not just during the current COVID-19 restrictions but for the future and beyond. Make sure you keep an eye out for our weekly updates in your inbox. 

We will be releasing dates for some upcoming webinars in the next 2 weeks. So keep an eye on the RIMPA event calendar here.

REMINDER: Member Survey

Thank you to everyone that has completed the 2020 member survey to date.  If you are yet to complete the survey we would truly appreciate it if you can do this at your earliest convenience. The more feedback we receive, the more  information we have to enable us to work and plan towards providing you, our valued member with improved services, benefits and additional opportunities to 'advance and connect' your professional development in the industry. We have broken the survey up into 4 sections:
  • Member Benefits
  • Planning for a Virtual RIMPA
  • RIMPA community
  • Professional Development.
We anticipate that the survey will take approximately 10 minutes. To access the survey click on this link. We value your feedback and look forward to receiving your responses.

RIMPA Live Convention

This is the big question for us all, but at this stage we are moving ahead as planned and will make a call on how RIMPA Live will be presented in July (3 months out from planned event). The staff and I are putting together our virtual platforms so we are prepared for what may need to take place in October. 
Vendors and sponsors remain dedicated to the event and we have even signed up new vendors for this years event as recent as this week. Big thank you to our committed vendors during the “C” period. 
Let’s hope our great event can proceed as planned, so please cross your fingers and toes..


Finances and Accounts 

RIMPA finances are now being performed by Julia Lindores, one of the exceptional RIMPA staff members. Sentrika Accountants assisted RIMPA over the past 3 years to build a stable and sustainable financial base with quality controlled procedures and regular reporting. As a result of recent changes and a decision by the Board to cut costs, it was agreed that the book keeping functions and account communications would be performed by RIMPA staff. The hand over occurred on the 1st April, so all account payments, reimbursements, expenditure requests and invoicing  are now handled by Julia. Darryl Dyson from Sentrika will remain RIMPA’s CFO and Company Secretary.

Please join me in a big thank you to Karen Farrell who has been our IQ Editor for the past two years. By direction from the Board, the editorial of IQ will now be undertaken by Jo Kane and Amie Brown and we thank Karen for all her great work in revitalising our quarterly publication. Karen will remain involved with RIMPA utilising  her interviewing and public relation skills as required.
Please take the time to email Karen thanking her for hard work done.

New Report Suggests Australian Government Agencies Are Falling Behind In Their Records Compliance

MELBOURNE, Vic., April, 13 2020 - AvePoint Australia today announced the results of its 2020 Public Sector Records Readiness Report.

The survey, conducted with technology research and advisory firm, Ecosystem, included 100 records management professionals from small, medium and large government agencies across local, state and federal governments. 

Among the study findings:

Agencies are fairly confident they are managing records to applicable records management compliance standards. 60 percent of respondents said they were very confident that their records were managed accordingly and 40 percent said they were somewhat confident they are compliant.

Yet, less than a quarter of government agencies transferred all eligible records to an archival authority in the past year. When asked why they hadn’t, 41 percent of respondents stated they did not know why.
The report suggests many agencies are falling behind in their compliance journey without even realising it.
