City Council Approval

Des Moines City Council voted to approve QuikTrip's site plan appeal for the excess land we're selling them, with the condition that a traffic flow study will be conducted and traffic-related concerns are addressed. It was a good discussion and we're pleased that our land sale process is successfully moving forward.

City Council will review the traffic flow study recommendations once they're prepared. We expect everything to be resolved favorably.

Our project is inspiring the community to contemplate how to fill gaps in art genres represented, collaborate on new programs, prioritize diversity, expand outreach of schools and so forth. While we continue honing renovation plans, please feel free to request a tour or send us questions. We welcome your input.

Thank you for supporting DesMoinesArts!

What's Next?

In the coming months, we will be releasing updated floor plans and pricing for phase one of our development. Our construction schedule relies on meeting fundraising goals and pre-leasing will begin once we're able to firm up the project timeline.

DesMoinesArts received general contractor bids from six separate companies. This is further affirmation from an entirely different sector that this project is one that matters. We are pleased to welcome Henning/Paric to the team.

To date there are more than 20 art disciplines represented in DesMoinesArts’ future tenants. Ceramicists, photographers, glass artists, actors, illustrators, musicians, painters, metalsmiths, sculptors, printers and many others are ready to lease space. Simonson & Associates has been generously supporting our efforts at no charge, including drafting layouts as we prepare for the pre-leasing process.

Expect an announcement regarding our new name soon.
