While our communication has been quiet, our work has been anything but. We are excited to announce that as of yesterday, DesMoinesArts is the proud owner of 900 Keo, a 164,000 square foot vacant building located on the northern edge of the downtown core.

The building is a perfect fit for our mission to create permanent affordable space for the local arts. The 4.5-story concrete building, with wide column spacing and high ceilings, lays out well for 180+/- studios, specialty art spaces including rehearsal space, and arts-related non-profit office space. DesMoinesArts will transform the look and feel of the building by adding large windows throughout and exterior lighting. When completed, this will become an amenity that even big cities don't have.

In the upcoming months, we will keep you posted with floor plans and leasing information. We expect to have the first floor of studios available for rent during the second half of 2015.
This is a true grass-roots effort - we appreciate your feedback and your help in spreading the word. Strong artist support for this project will help ensure it becomes a success and stands the test of time.
