MS811 September News & Events 

September is the ninth month of the year and has a length of 30 days. It is the month in which Autumn begins. Holidays celebrated this month are Labor Day, Patriot Day & Constitution Day to name a few. Its birth flowers are the forget-me-not, morning glory & aster. The birthstone for September is the sapphire which means clear thinking.

    Alleged Violation Report

For any complaints regarding violations of the Mississippi Regulation of Excavation (Dig Law), here is the place to direct someone to: or you can go to and click on the AVR icon at the bottom of the page. You may also simply click on the AVR button above to be directed to the site. 
  August Events/News         
  • Locate Request - When reading your locate request, please read it in its entirety. The preferred number to dial first when contacting the excavator, if provided, is the Alternate number listed to the right of the Contact information. It will show as Alt: underneath the Phone: which is generally the office number.  We require accurate driving directions from the nearest intersection to the dig site with mileage.
  • Surveys - New to the MS 811 website are two surveys, one for Member Utilities & the other for Excavators (CSR Survey). Please take the time to provide us feedback on our services, the survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete. For more information: Members Click Here &  Excavators Click Here.
  • Database - all member utility companies should make certain MS811 has the most accurate area coverage for your underground facilities. When adding new utilities underground you submit those updates by logging onto MSAM (Mississippi Service Area Mapping) or contact Amy Williams by dialing (601) 368-1150 or by email at
  • Keep Mississippi Safe!!!


The August 2017 edition of CGA Update details the creative national, regional and local 8/11 Day celebrations carried out by our members, the findings of the recently released 2016 DIRT Report and inspiration for fall 811 Video Challenge shoots. This month's edition also features a link to CGA's Hurricane Harvey toolkit, which provides template communications materials that remind the public about the importance of calling 811 during the critical storm clean-up phase.
