Updated conference information

Dear ELLSA community,
The ELLSA conference is coming up soon: March 5th-6th 2016, hosted at Bangkok Patana School, Thailand. Please mark the date on your calendars. The theme of the conference is: Managing the multilingual classroom - every teacher is a teacher of language.

Conference Keynote Speaker: Elly Tobin

With over thirty years' experience in education from Kindergarten through to adult learning, Elly Tobin  is an experienced presenter, guest speaker and educational consultant specialising in language acquisition, EAL, leadership, management and curriculum development.

What's happening in your area:


The Thailand ELLSA Chapter is sponsoring an upcoming Google Hangout on Air - with the topic: "Sharing Favourite Apps for EAL Learners" on Tuesday, December 15th, at 7:00. Everyone welcome.


At Vientiane International School, the John Hattie group will be running two whole-school PD days at the end of November on Visible Learning. VIS is very excited to be having this time dedicated to ongoing learning and development.


The ELLSA Vietnam Chapter had their first meet-up over dinner on September 30th. Over 20 teachers from 6 international schools all around HCMC attended! The first meeting was a chance for everyone to get to know each other and share with colleagues from different schools. The second meeting will be January 28th. Stay tuned for a topic and location. In the meantime, please join the ELLSA Vietnam Chapter group on Facebook (a closed group) where we can all share info and discuss topics. ELLSA China is planning to organise a TESMC (Teaching ESL Students in Mainstream Classrooms) course in Shanghai, in the new year. As a trained TESMC tutor, you can deliver this Teacher Professional Development Course in your own school. ELLSA China would like to encourage their ELLSA colleagues to consider attending this internationally recognised course. Please contact for more information.
