Character Design Workshops for 13-16 year olds

Saturday 8 April, 1.30-3pm and 3.15-4.45pm
Project Room, dlr LexIcon 


Are you interested in pursuing a career as a character designer for animation, comic art, graphic design or games development?

This workshop with Cartoon Saloon animator Rory Conway will introduce you to the principles and processes involved in designing appealing and interesting characters, sharing techniques of shape, silhouette, 2D drawing and character construction.

Get Animated with Song of the Sea Family Fun Day!

Come along and celebrate Academy Award nominated Irish film Song of the Sea with special free screenings of the film and a tour.
 
If you can’t make it, be sure and pop down to the Gallery, dlr LexIcon and see the exhibition that celebrates the very best of Irish animation by award winning Cartoon Saloon Studios 

It runs until Wednesday 26 April.

dlr First Frames: Opportunities for Emerging Filmakers

dlr First Frames scheme aims to provide funding and support to emerging filmmakers looking to develop ambitious and creative short films based in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown (dlr) region.  The scheme is fully funded by dlr Arts Office and dlr Local Enterprise Office, and managed by Filmbase, with additional support from the National Film School, IADT.

Filmbase will run optional project development clinics for prospective applicants in advance of the application deadline.  These may be of benefit to filmmakers who are new to the process of submitting applications.

Mountains to Sea Festival welcomes over 6,000 visitors

A fantastic weekend was had by all at the Mountains to Sea dlr Book Festival. The festival welcomed over 6,000 visitors to over 65 events. 

Highlights included John Boyne and Neil Jordan, heated political discussions on Brexit and the US as well as a superb poetry reading by Michael Longley and the  first ever visit to Ireland by legend of children’s literature Judith Kerr.
