Visual Arts Commission Announcement

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to announce that the Visual Art Commission 2016 has been awarded to painter Damien Flood and the Visual Art Commission for 2017 has been awarded to Aideen Barry, a visual artist working in Film, Video, Performance, Drawing, Sound, Installation and Sculpture.

They will each be commissioned to create a new body of work which will culminate in an exhibition (by each artist) in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon.

These commissions were funded by the Arts Council.

Early Years Commission Announcement

Helen Barry Workshop
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Childcare Committee is delighted to announce two arts commissions for the early years sector. Helen Barry and Irma Grothuis will work with very young children and staff in two of the County's community childcare facilities.

An integral part of the commission is that Helen and Irma will develop the work with the children and the staff in the development of the new work, in essence the children will be co-creators.

Performing Arts Commission Announcement

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to announce a number of commissions for the performing arts sector. The commissions have been awarded to Jonathan Reynolds, Ciarán Taylor and a joint application by Niamh Lawlor, Carol Walsh and Alicia Falvey.

The commissions are funded by the Arts Council and supported by the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council/Health Service Executive Arts and Health Partnership. They are designed to respond to the need for better access to cultural activities at local level for people with disabilities and will support the development of new work that considers accessibility from the beginning.

dlr Arts Office will be developing a new County Arts Policy for the period 2016-2020.  Public consultations for this will take place towards the end of January, in conjunction with an online survey. Further details in the next e-bulletin.
