Welcome to the dlr Arts Office fortnightly e-bulletin where we will keep you up to date with our vibrant and rich arts programme.  Our aim is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to engage with the arts as creators, spectators and participants.


Áitiuil is a group exhibition exploring the work of five eminent members of the RHA, all of whom have a connection to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

The artists, now all senior academicians, include former RHA President Carey Clarke PPRHA, John Coyle RHA, Melanie le Brocquy HRHA, George Potter RHA and Imogen Stuart RHA. The exhibition was curated by Tara Murphy, Director of Solomon Fine Art, Dublin.

Screening of Hands: Stone (1981)

Join us for a special screening of the documentary 'Stone' which shows the long tradition of stone working in the Barnacullia/Glencullen area of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County. This film captures some of the stone workers who were still practicing the hand craft in the area in the '70's and '80's.  'Stone' will be followed by a panel discussion with sculptor Philip O'Neill, author Nicholas Ryan and local stone cutter John Roe.

Carey Clarke: In Focus

Carey will talk about aspects of his work, including his techniques in watercolours and oils.  He will also talk about his choice of subject matter for the artworks shown in the exhibition.  No booking required.

Call for Writer in Residence


Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Arts Office invites applications for a Writer in Residence for the period June 2015 - May 2016.  This Writer in Residence is managed by dlr County Council and is grant aided by the Arts Council.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 22nd April.

dlr Arts Awards 2015


Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to announce that it has awarded 19 Arts Grants through the 2015 grants scheme.

These grants will encourage and enable the creation of new projects, events or educational opportunities such as exhibitions, performances and school workshops, all of which will be showcased or celebrated in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

The grants will also support artists' career development.
