Upcoming Exhibitions in the Municipal Gallery
|
|
‘then again’ an installation by Catherine Delaney;
'Mausoleums of Precious Belongings', photographs by Fiona Hackett
27 January - 12 March
Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon
Admission Free
The Municipal Gallery dlr LexIcon is delighted to present these two solo exhibitions.
‘then again’ by Catherine Delaney will consist of an assemblage of unwanted clothes heaped in the corner of the space in Gallery 2. The jumbled heap refuses to follow any unified form. The collection of clothes shifts and moves in unpredictable ways, emphasising the nature of the material. Fiona Hackett’s work explores the spaces of self-storage facilities in this conceptual documentary photography project. The exhibition will include images of these strange spaces as well as portraits of people with some of the items that they are storing.

The Blackrock Sequence is part of a public art commission during which David Butler will create a sequence of poems examining the history, culture and memory of the coastal area running from Booterstown to Dun Laoghaire, centering on Blackrock.
At this special free event, David will talk about his Blackrock Sequence project and present some of the work in progress, followed by a Q&A. David would welcome peoples’ memories of the area over a cup of tea and coffee. This will appeal to local groups and anyone with an interest in the local history and literature.
