dlr LexIcon Visual Art Commission 2018-19

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council wishes to commission two visual artists to create a new body of work which will culminate in an exhibition (by each artist) in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon. The theme of the commission is to create a new body of work that is responsive to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County. Applicants are invited to engage with the geographic, cultural and/or social context of the area. Two artists will be selected by way of an open submission selection process. Each artist will be awarded a commission of €10,000.  The resultant artworks will be exhibited in the the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon in 2018 or 2019.

dlr announces major Roger Casement Memorial Sculpture Commission

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council invites expressions of interest from artists for the creation of a major new artwork to be situated in the newly developed Dún Laoghaire Baths area. The commission is to commemorate the life of Roger Casement and his particular significance to the local area.

The commissioners are seeking a representational sculpture of Casement.
The total budget available for the artwork is up to €120,000. Visual Artists Ireland is managing the competition on behalf of dlr.

This is a two-stage commission process. The deadline for Stage 1 applications is Friday 7 October 2016 at 12 noon.
