The deadline for completing the dlr Arts Office short online survey as part of the public consultation process for the next Arts Policy is this Friday 19 February. Please fill in the survey HERE to give your views on the Arts in the County. Hard copies are also available in dlr branch libraries.

Opening of an Exhibition of work from
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s
Art Collection, Mill Theatre

Saturday 20th February at 5pm
The exhibition will be officially opened by An Cathaoirleach Cllr. Barry Saul. Featuring some works that have never been publicly exhibited before, the Mill will showcase a selection of contemporary pieces including photography, print and painting, curated by Aoife O'Toole.
Featured Artists: Damien Flood, Julie Merriman, Mark Clare, Dara McGrath, Dorothy Cross, Linda Plunkett, Michael Durand, Justin Larkin, Colin Martin.
The exhibition continues until June 30.

Join curator Brenda McParland for a tour of the current exhibition Amongst Other Things in dlr’s Municipal Gallery. This exhibition features new artworks by artists Felicity Clear and Helen Hughes and marks their first collaboration.
The tour is free of charge but booking is essential.

This month’s Salon Night hosted by dlr writer in residence Selina Guinness features The Penny Dreadful, a biannual, literary magazine, based in Cork, publishing poetry, fiction and reviews. It recently launched its own imprint, The Dreadful Press, and hosts The Penny Dreadful Novella Prize each summer. Editors John Keating and Mark O’Connell will be joined on the night by writers Dean Browne and Jessica Traynor.

Storyteller in Residence Announcement

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to announce Fiona Dowling as the first Storyteller in Residence for the county. Fiona Dowling is a storyteller, visual artist and facilitator living in Dublin. She tells stories to audiences of all ages; folktales from her French and Irish heritages as well as stories from far and wide. Fiona will be working with communities in the west of the county until October of this year finding stories from the area. She will also be creating opportunities for other storytellers as part of her residency as well as other exciting opportunities for the public to get involved. As part of her residency Fiona will be involved in a cultural exchange with Senem Donatan a professional storyteller based in Istanbul, Turkey.

dlr Primary Schools Arts programme 2015-2016

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Primary Arts Programme was initiated in 1994 and is one of the longest running schools programmes in Ireland. The programme enables school children and teachers to explore creativity in the classroom setting with a professional artist over a 3-4 month period. The schools for 2015-2016 are St. Mary’s National School Sandyford; The Muslim National School Clonskeagh; St. Augustines School Blackrock; Scoil Cholmcille Senior National School Ballybrack; Our Lady's Girls NS Ballinteer; and Our Lady of Good Counsel Girls NS Johnstown. The programme is a partnership with Blackrock Education Centre, supported by The Arts Council.

Mountains to Sea Tickets Now on Sale

Mountains to Sea, dlr Book Festival takes place from the 9th to the 13th of March. Tickets are now on sale.
With over 60 events to choose from highlights at this year’s festival include Sir Michael Parkinson, Neil Jordan and Paul Muldoon.
There’s plenty for families too with authors such as Cathy Cassidy and Patrick Ness.
