One Hot Commodity:
Fresh and Flavorful HotBabe-HotSauce
Sandra and Fiona bring the taste of the Caribbean to Ballard Farmers Market.
If you've stopped to sample this sauce before, you don't need anyone to explain the difference it can make in your fridge. But for anyone who hasn't had the opportunity - let us fill you in. Fresh ingredients and small batch processing create an apex of fresh and spicy that completes so many meals. Owners Fiona and Sandra have been bringing the flavors of Trinidad and Tobago to Ballard for 6 years now. In that time they have developed several new variations, and made a lot of friends.
"Ballard is our favorite market. The diversity of the crowd here is so energetic", comments Sandra as we watch folks busily move around 22nd Ave. HotBabe-HotSauce started out of necessity. Sandra needed her family recipe in the PNW.
"Back home, each family, each household, has their own recipe. This is the flavor I grew up with. It brings back memories."
Everything about the sauces is fresh. The herbs that go into each batch are picked the morning before they are processed. And the art on each bottle is created by the owner herself. She revealed what inspired the art for the labels, "Well I've been an artist all my life and Fiona said I should design something for the labels. So it's a feather in my hat, and I do appreciate the compliments, and the uniqueness that it brings to our brand."
Sandra and/or Fiona can always be found with bright smiles, and samples, at the Ballard Farmers Market. Often folks will come over because they have been to the Caribbean once and they are trying to track down the flavors they experienced while abroad. Both ladies love getting the right sauce in their hand and sharing memories of Trinidad with a new patron. Dress up your grilled veggies, meats, salads, dips, or sandwich with a drizzle of HotBabe-HotSauce
and, trust us, you'll taste the difference.
