Thursday, December 4

5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Join us on Thursday, Dec. 4 as Deborah Burst signs and presents her new book, Louisiana's Sacred Places with a photo presentation.

Louisiana’s Sacred Places takes you on a personal tour of Louisiana’s most solemn and revered locales. From New Orleans’ most telling portraits of eternal architecture to St. Roch Chapel’s chamber of miracles filled with relics of pain and suffering. Burst’s vivid photography and discerning eye bring the spirits and celestial wonder to life in every frame.

From a thirty-year corporate career in financial computing, to a degree in Media Arts and Business Studies from Tulane, Deb now embarks on a new adventure every day through her freelance business. Evidence of her persistence is a versatile portfolio: newspaper columns, national features, published photography, and her latest project, a book on historic churches through greater New Orleans. Deb has more than 800 published articles earning eighteen writing/photography awards in the last nine years. She has also served as a moderator for the Tennessee Williams Festival travel panel and a panelist for their blogging panel. She co-founded the Northshore Literary Society to help grow literary endeavors and support writers in St. Tammany Parish.

Saturday, December 6

2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Join us on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2:00 p.m. as Ronald Fisher signs his hilarious novel, Mid-City Errands.

Vonny Foster is all grown up! He is in the second grade and about to make his first confession. Which means life is full of mysteries. For instance, what happens to doughnut holes? And also for instance, who was driving the black Pontiac that ran over his friend Jimmy Broom? Was it an accident or a incident? And why are black-eyed John Smith and his squeaky-voiced friend Pocahontas chasing Vonny all over the neighborhood? Set in 1950s New Orleans, Mid-City Errands is a comic novel about the adventures of a boy who teams up with an unlikely friend to find out the truth—while buying cigarettes for his Mother at the corner bar and winning with Daddy at the horse race track. Mystery-lovers of all ages will enjoy its endearing yet menacing world of quirky shopkeepers, meddling neighbors, troublemaking scoundrels, loving parents, annoying siblings, and more aunts, uncles, and cousins than any boy every had. And the best roast beef poor boy in the whole wide world!

Ronald Fisher was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Like the narrator of Mid-City Errands, he enjoyed an idyllic and adventurous youth in that neighborhood near the Fair Grounds. He currently resides in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
