Churches-EU Dialogue: CEC and COMECE meet with German EU Presidency 


An ecumenical delegation of the Conference of European Churches and the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) have met in Brussels with Mr Michael Clauss, Ambassador at the Permanent Representation of Germany to the EU, to exchange on the priorities of the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union. CEC Thematic Group responds to European Commission’s white paper on artificial intelligence


CEC’s Thematic Group on Science, New Technologies and Christian Ethics has recently developed a response to the White paper on Artificial Intelligence – A European approach to excellence and trust issued by the European Commission in February this year. Read more
 

Bishop Guli joins calls for changes to inhumane immigration detention


Bishop of Loughborough Guli Francis-Dehqani has joined Christian leaders in signing a letter to the government opposing its inhumane practice of indefinite immigration detention in the UK. Bishop Guli said: “Limiting the period of detention would go some way in supporting the thousands of vulnerable people who end up in this unsympathetic system." Swedish Archbishop Antje Jackelén is part of interfaith "Coronaspection" project
 

Archbishop Antje Jackelén fom the Church of Sweden is among leaders of different religious traditions who offer personal insights from the Coronavirus pandemic as part of an online project pioneered by the Elijah Interfaith Institute. Founded in the late 1990s, the institute brings together Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Bahai leaders to build friendships and share the rich spiritual resources of their various faith traditions. Wellbeing of Digitalized Societies and Work Place


The Church Action on Labour and Life (CALL) Network will hold the conference “Wellbeing of Digitalized Societies and Work Place” from 11 to 13 March 2021, at the Cultural Center Saint-Thomas in Strasbourg. CALL is a Europe-wide network that seeks to address employment and related economic and social issues. Learn more

European Christian Environmental Network Assembly

The Assembly of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN), addressing the theme “Reconciled with Creation: a Call for Urgent Action on Climate and Biodiversity” will be held from 28 May to 2 June 2021 at the Evangelical Academy Bad Herrenalb, Germany. Read more
