Ecumenical organisations in Brussels offer messages on Europe Day

On Europe Day, observed on 9 May, commemorating the 70th Anniversary Schuman's Declaration Chapel for Europe produced short videos highlighting the historical significance of the day, featuring greetings offered by the heads of ecumenical organisations based in Brussels, including wishes from the CEC General Secretary Dr Jørgen Skov Sørensen. Wellbeing of Digitalized Societies and Work Place

The Church Action on Labour and Life (CALL) Network will hold a conference “Wellbeing of Digitalized Societies and Work Place” from 11 to 13 March 2021 at the Cultural Center Saint-Thomas in Strasbourg. CALL is a Europe-wide network that seeks to address employment and related economic and social issues. Learn more

Reflections on the COVID-19 crisis from CEC's Thematic Group

Contributing to the ongoing discussion on the role of churches and COVID-19 in Europe, CEC's Thematic Group on Education, Democracy and Diversity offers reflections, deriving inspiration from the Charta Œcumenica. “Now is not the time to be introverted and inward-looking, either as nations or as churches, but rather it is the time to seek how we can come through this situation together.” Read more

COVID-19: Breaking the cycle of poverty for young people in Naples

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Italy provides short-term aid and long-term opportunities for vulnerable families. In Italy, the first European country to be affected by the Coronavirus, restrictions are gradually being lifted to allow people greater freedom of movement. But for many residents living in the poorest parts of Naples, the pandemic has significantly worsened an existing circle of poverty. Read more

European Regional Pre-Assembly for WCC 11th Assembly

CEC, as regional ecumenical organisation (REO), cooperating with the World Council of Churches (WCC), will hold the European Regional Pre-Assembly ahead of the WCC 11th Assembly. The Pre-Assembly will take place from 18 to 20 February 2021 in Warsaw, Poland, in cooperation with the Polish Ecumenical Council. Read more

European Christian Environmental Network Assembly [NEW DATES]

The Assembly of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN), addressing the theme “Reconciled with creation: a call for urgent action on climate and biodiversity” will be held from 28 May to 2 June 2021 at the Evangelical Academy Bad Herrenalb, Germany. Read more
