1. SOS is continuing door to door outreach in Yates in an effort to educate every voter. We have some new plans and need both lake and town residents to assist! Let us know if you enjoy meeting new people and have some weekend time in September and October starting this weekend – we could use help this Saturday September 19th!
2. We are hosting Brett Ewald, a local birding expert, to speak to residents on native and migrating birds in our region on October 7. We are looking for help in organizing and publicizing this and other birding events in October. Let us know if you can help organize, distribute fliers and spread the word.
3. SOS is encouraging people to write to the Public Service Commission letters that express the problems and dangers of this project. SOS members in Somerset are leading this effort. If you are interested in being a part of that team let us know.
See below in red for directions for commenting to the Public Service Commission. YOUR COMMENTS MATTER! Please urge your friends and family that visit this area to also write a quick letter! We need a volume of letters on the PSC web site!
We look forward to hearing from those of you who have the time and interest to be a part of our Fall work. SOS is a volunteer group. It is through the hard work of many people in Yates and Somerset as well as supporters throughout the region and the country that we can fight the APEX Lighthouse Wind Industrial Turbine Project! Please let everyone you know, who opposes this project and Article 10, to please write to the PSC website and make public comment under case/matter number - 14-F-0485. We must keep the pressure up on the Siting Board.
To give an all an idea as to the numbers: There are currently 164 public comments relating to Lighthouse Wind on the PSC website. The Cape Vincent project, when cancelled, had 340 public comments posted to the PSC website. Given the massive opposition to the project we are driving, we should have no trouble breaking the 340 Cape Vincent comment record.
