Dear SOS Supporters:
 
Thank you to those of you who attended the Orleans County Planning Board meeting last Thursday night.  Both the proposed moratorium and the new WECS law for the Town of Yates were approved by the county.  So the next step is for the Yates Town Board to approval them.
 
I wanted to remind you of meetings coming up this week and next:
 
Thursday, May 5, 7:30 p.m. - Somerset Planning Board meeting – Public hearings are still open on special use permits for two MET towers.
Wednesday, May 11, 6:30 p.m. - Somerset Town Board meeting
Thursday, May 12, 7 p.m. - Yates Town Board meeting
 
You may have read the letters written on behalf of the Town of Somerset and Save Ontario Shores to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. (See links below and on our website home page.)  We have some serious concerns about the misleading information Apex is spreading about our communities, the proposed wind project, and SOS.  Consider writing to the attorney general to ask him to respond to the Somerset and SOS letters or add your concerns.  Write to the governor and to the Department of Public Service (see the "take action" link on our website).  At the moment, nearly 750 comments have been filed regarding the Lighthouse Wind project on the Department of Public Service website (see link below) and we'd love to see more, especially from people who haven't written yet.  Ask your friends who visit the area how this proposed project would impact the likelihood of them vacationing here and have them submit something to the DPS.  Every letter helps!
