Check out our new and improved website!
We are delighted to introduce the newly redesigned Save Ontario Shores, Inc. website: www.SaveOntarioShores.com
The new website features a map with our best interpretation of the intended location of wind turbines in Somerset and Yates. Under Leases and Easements, you will find the leaseholders and how many turbines are proposed to be placed on their properties. (Click on the yellow circle with a “+” sign next to the town name.) We are still working to include road names and other details on the map. Keep checking back to watch for updates!
You will also find a Local Voices section, information about our supporters in the POWER Coalition and more about Apex, including the developer’s activities nationally and in other areas of the state. An easy click on the Home page takes you directly to the DPS website, where you can submit comments to the Siting Board. (On the DPS website you can also read what others have written and track motions made in our ongoing effort to makes sure everyone follows the Article 10 process and acts in a fair and respectful manner to all those involved. )
Fighting an out-of-state corporation requires constant vigilance so ongoing letters and attendance at town board meetings are important. A link on the Home page will direct you to your elected officials so you can let them know your thoughts. An updated calendar on the About Us page lists town board meetings for Somerset, Yates and surrounding towns.
All these new and updated features on the improved platform are the result of countless hours of volunteer time on the part of SOS supporters. The invaluable assistance of so many has kept Save Ontario Shores focused on our goal - to stop inappropriately sited industrial wind turbines from being placed along Lake Ontario as proposed by Apex’s Lighthouse Wind Project. We are grateful for all they continue to do to #STOPApex!
Next week town board meetings will be held in Somerset and Yates. Somerset’s meeting is 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13. In Yates the town board will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14.
The Great Backyard Bird Count begins Friday, Feb. 15: https://www.audubon.org/conservation/about-great-backyard-bird-count
Watch for a mailing from SOS with more information, updates, and a request for financial support!
