Be on the lookout for a survey from Save Ontario Shores in the mail. A survey was sent to residences in Somerset and Yates using mailing addresses listed on the towns’ tax rolls. Please take a few minutes to complete this brief survey and return it in the pre-addressed envelope, postmarked by September 4^th. Questions related to Lighthouse Wind as well as offshore wind in the Great Lakes, changes to NY State’s siting procedures, and battery storage are among the topics covered. We want to know your opinion; please respond!

Last month we sent out a newsletter about NYS Department of Public Service’s “White Paper” on the Clean Energy Standard and an initial comment period that ended in July. This paper discussed, among other topics, a feasibility study for placing wind turbines in Lake Ontario and Lake Erie in order to meet the state’s climate goals. Also, in their press release, DPS stated that “interested entities also are invited to submit final comments on the White Paper by August 31, 2020, by e-filing though the Department’s DMM system, or by email to the Secretary, as noted above (secretary@dps.ny.gov). All preliminary and final comments received will be posted to the Department’s website and become part of the record.”
