Dear SOS Members,
Opposition against the Lighthouse Wind industrial wind turbine project has taken a new turn as APEX has submitted a Preliminary Scoping Statement. This 120 page document sets forth their reasoning and justification for the project, their list of the dangers and what they intend to do about them. It is crucial at this time for experts to comment on the accuracy and sufficiency of this document. SOS has hired consultants in the area of the environment, acoustics and energy. Legal and expert costs are mounting. If you are against this project and able to contribute please consider a one time or monthly donation. Details regarding donations are listed below this email. If you have questions please email us and someone will contact you. SOS has been able to do its work due exclusively to the generosity of the citizens of Yates and Somerset. Thank you.
In addition to expert comments, public comments are also important. The deadline for comments on this document is January 6. Within the next several days we will post on our website home page documents that will assist you in writing. Please check our website periodically for updates.
On Tuesday, December 8, Save Ontario Shores will sponsor a Public Meeting at the Barker Fire Hall, 1600 Quaker Road, Barker. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with brief presentations beginning at 7 p.m. Local leaders will address topics such as the filing of the Preliminary Scoping Statement (PSS), Home Rule, health and environmental concerns, and potential impacts on the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base. Bring your questions. Learn more at SaveOntarioShores.com. Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Kate Kremer and Pam Atwater
