New Arkwright Lawsuit

The proximity of industrial wind turbine projects and individual towers to people’s property and residences is a growing concern for rural New Yorkers.  In the Town of Arkwright, NY, the developer, EDP Renewables North America (owned by a Spanish corporation), sited 490-foot tall industrial wind turbines as close as 1200 feet from residences. 100 Arkwright residents recently filed suit against the project for a host of negative impacts including health.  Lawsuits are costly and time consuming with uncertain outcomes.  People do not generally take this route unless the issues are overwhelming and options for redress are few.  For those of us facing the prospect of these projects this lawsuit is alarming. The following is a link to an article about the Arkwright lawsuit.

Public Health Presentation

New York State must address these growing concerns, including health. Knowing that his constituents are facing fates similar to Arkwright, and to begin these discussions, Senator Ortt presented several experts on the issues at the Sept. 10th Public Health Forum. Speakers shared information on health impacts, reasons for these impacts and suggestions as to how to move forward. New York State residents living near industrial wind projects gave testimony about how their lives have been negatively impacted. Over 120 people were present at the event and videos are available on our website homepage for those who did not attend.
