CHOP Garden Tour
 
What a wonderful year we have had with our CHOP sub-grantees! Our evaluation team is hard at work analyzing not only this past year's data, but the entire three-year grant initiative. We can't wait to share our results with all of you, as well as gain input into where you see Farm to ECE heading.  CHOP will continue to release monthly newsletters as we continue to seek funding and determine program goals for our next CHOP grant. 

Each sub-grant used their funds to plant a garden at their site. Each garden is unique to the creator, space and funds available. Below are some pictures of our year three CHOP sub-grantees. 
End of Grant Deadline: September 30, 2019
 
The following sub-grant activities must be completed by the end of this month. 
  • CO.Train recorded webinars must be viewed by September 30. 
  • All grant funds must be spent by September 30. 
  • Submission of all grant-related purchases no later than October 7.
  • Grant Activity Tracking Sheet for September will be sent on September 26 and are due no later than October 4. 
  • Event information including date, sign-in sheet and length of the event. 
Individual emails have been sent regarding any past due grant activities. Please contact Britt directly if you have any questions or concerns about meeting this deadline.

  • Cortez/Montezuma County area training: September 28, 2019.
  • Greeley/Weld County area training: October 5, 2019.
  • Castle Rock/Douglas County area training: October 19, 2019.
  • Colorado Springs/El Paso County area training: November 9, 2019.
  • Aurora/Arapahoe County area training: December 7, 2019.
  • Fort Collins/Larimer County area training: January 25, 2020.
  • Boulder/Boulder County area training: February 22, 2020.

This exciting new training opportunity will be offered across the state of Colorado to meet the needs of all CACFP participating centers and homes. Join us to learn hands-on skills in the kitchen, as well as simple tricks and tips to identify whole grains and calculate sugar content in yogurt and cereal.

This engaging six-hour training will connect you with your peers while teaching you how to implement the meal patterns in a meaningful and intentional way.  Each participant receives over $120 worth of equipment, as well as groceries, so you can try out one of the fun new snack recipes taught at each training.

Fall Cooking Inspiration
 
As we begin to see cooler temperatures and beautiful fall produce appear in the grocery aisles, it's time to update our menus for the fall season. 

A seasonal menu encourages the use of local foods and as items become available through each growing season, your menu celebrates fruits and vegetables at their peak. This autumn, try this harvest bake.
