Welcome to the October Office of Suicide Prevention newsletter! As our office continues to grow, we wanted to create a better communication channel to highlight new resources, community-level work, funding opportunities, and upcoming events.
Office of Suicide Prevention Updates

Suicide Prevention Commission
The next Suicide Prevention Commission meeting is happening Friday, October 30, 2020 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. MT. Please contact Commission Coordinator, Veronika Hanna for more details. 

Man Therapy
Man Therapy is an outside-the-box mental health resource for men (and those that care about men) that uses humor and engaging digital tools to help proactively address life challenges and mental health conditions like depression, anger, anxiety, and substance use. Check out the intro video or just take a breathing break with this Mindful Moments: Managing Stress video. 

Zero Suicide Colorado Learning Collaborative
Every month we hold an interactive online Learning Collaborative for health system leaders working in suicide prevention. Experts in health care-based suicide prevention, advocates who speak on their lived experience, and a diverse array of other guest speakers join health system leaders from across Colorado in discussing state of the art approaches to improving care and saving lives. The next Learning Collaborative will take place on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10 am via Zoom. To be added to the invite list please email


LivingWorks Start Training
The OSP is pleased to provide our partners across Colorado FREE access to the LivingWorks Start suicide prevention gatekeeper training. LivingWorks Start is a one-hour, online, interactive training program that gives you the skills and knowledge to keep family, friends, co-workers, and others safe from suicide. For more information, click here.

To access the training, click here and enter access code: OSP Gen. Please note that we have a limited number of licenses available for use available on a first come, first served basis. Please do not share the URL and access code outside of Colorado.

Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
In light of COVID-19, the OSP has moved all CAMS trainings to a virtual platform. If you are a behavioral health provider interested in participating, sign up to receive more information here. To learn more about the training, visit

Funding- Coming Soon!

The OSP will be releasing a Request for Applications November 1 for Colorado public schools and districts to support suicide prevention training, policy development, and school climate improvement strategies. Once released, the funding announcement and application materials will be posted here.

RESOURCES - Hot off the Press!

Race, Racism, & Mental Health
The OSP released a draft statement and action plan to dismantle racism. Additionally, we have included several resources for race, racism, and mental health below.

Youth, Schools & Colleges 
Cross-Pollinated Resources
  • Caring for Colorado: Rapid Response Grant Opportunity. School-Age Engagement and Care grant opportunity will award grants of up to $25,000 to increase support for children and youth (k-12) who are experiencing barriers to returning to a full-time, in-person school environment. Applications due Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 5 p.m.
