Breastfeeding Toolkits Available

New breastfeeding toolkits have been added to the ECOP Order Form including:

  • Life with Breastfeeding - a toolkit for working families. Available in English and Spanish. 
  • Supporting Breastfeeding at Work - a toolkit for employers.
  • Making Breastfeeding Work for Medical Offices.

Physical Activity in Early Care and Education Training

Do you provide support to early care and education programs?   New, interactive physical activity courses are available for you to add to your resources.

National News

Free Entrance Days to National Parks

All children benefit from spending time outdoors participating in all types of movement and activities. Outdoor play offers the space to fully and freely develop motor skills and explore the environment. What better place to spend time outdoors than a National Park?

The National Park Service will waive entrance fees for five days in 2020
  • Jan 20 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • April 18 – First Day of National Parks Week
  • Aug 25 – National Park Service Birthday
  • Sept 26 – National Public Lands Day
  • Nov 11 – Veterans Day

Setting the Table for Healthy Eating

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration updated the Nutrition Facts label on packaged foods and beverages with a fresh design that will make it easier to make informed food choices that contribute to lifelong healthy eating habits.

The Health Educator’s Nutrition Toolkit is designed to help health educators and nutrition professionals teach consumers about the Nutrition Facts label and how to use the information to make healthier food choices. The toolkit offers a wide range of resources, including realistic tips on how to shop for and prepare food, as well as, order food when eating out to build a healthy diet.

Explore and share the toolkit with your partners.
Healthy Kids, Healthy Future Modules are now LIVE!

The six Let’s Move! Child Care modules previously available from Penn State Extension Better Kid Care have been replaced with six Healthy Kids, Healthy Future modules.

The Healthy Kids, Healthy Future module series is available here in English and Spanish. Lessons cover background information for childhood obesity prevention and the five best practice goals: increase physical activity, serve healthy food, offer healthy beverages, limit screen time and support breastfeeding.

All Better Kid Care online On-demand lessons are approved by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Early Childhood to meet professional development requirements for early childhood and out-of-school time professionals in Colorado.

The Blueprint to End Hunger is a collective vision and call to action for individuals, communities, organizations and policymakers to address hunger in Colorado. We are looking for more diverse voices to join these efforts. 

Please consider joining the Blueprint where you think your time and expertise are best used. You can focus your efforts on workgroups where teams consider strategy or select a project team where you can focus on a specific project, or find other opportunities to contribute. Or do it all!
