September is Suicide Prevention Month!

Welcome to the September Office of Suicide Prevention newsletter! As our office continues to grow, we wanted to create a better communication channel to highlight new resources, community-level work, funding opportunities, and upcoming events.
Office of Suicide Prevention Updates

Forward Together CO
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), are combining resources and expertise to produce the new Forward Together campaign, an innovative marketing and outreach campaign to promote healthy behaviors among youth by focusing on a key goal: connected relationships.

Suicide Prevention & Crisis Response Training Application
The Colorado Legislature passed Senate Bill 2018-272, which created a grant program to support suicide prevention and crisis response training to school and district staff. This year, the OSP is able to provide additional awards to support staff trainings for up to $5,000 per school or district. to be spent by June 30, 2021. Please submit this application to indicate your interest by October 15, 2020. Please reach out to Kirstin Hoaglund with any questions. 

Trainings

LivingWorks Start Training
The OSP is pleased to provide our partners across Colorado FREE access to the LivingWorks Start suicide prevention gatekeeper training. LivingWorks Start is a one-hour, online, interactive training program that gives you the skills and knowledge to keep family, friends, co-workers, and others safe from suicide. For more information, click here.

To access the training, click here and enter access code: OSP Gen. Please note that we have a limited number of licenses available for use available on a first come, first served basis. Please do not share the URL and access code outside of Colorado.

*LivingWorks Start works best with Google Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge browsers. It is not Internet Explorer compatible. If you have any questions or issues accessing the training, please contact Dymond Ruybal at Dymond.Ruybal@state.co.us.

Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
In light of COVID-19, the OSP has moved all in-person CAMS trainings to a virtual platform. If you are interested in participating, sign up to receive more information here. To learn more about the training, visit CAMS-Care.com.
