Electric Vehicle Recharging in High-Rise
The City of Sydney asked Wattblock to present on Electric Vehicle Recharging in High Rise apartments as part of the Smart Green Apartments program. One strata complex in Sydney now has fifteen Teslas in the basement making EV recharge a serious strata issue. Wattblock is onboarding partners across the value chain to provide the right EV recharge solutions.

HOAs...what are they?
Home Owners Associations or HOA's are a fast-growing form of housing in the U.S., being home to almost 25 million houses and 62m residents living in community schemes, very similar to Australian strata. While gated communities of houses are less common in Australia, Wattblock is now working on its first Australian customer of this housing-style.

NABERS for apartments
Wattblock applauds the Federal government for funding a NABERs tool for residential apartments. Commercial office space embraced the 6-star rating scheme over the past 10 years. Carlos Flores of NABERs stated "We know bringing large-scale sustainability change to the apartment sector will be a major challenge, but one that government and industry can tackle if we work together.” Wattblock is ready for the challenge!

Wattblock Research Update
Wattblock continues to work with UNSW, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and University of Queensland (UQ) on research projects for strata. The current UQ research portfolio features Nikhil Kaswan on EV recharge, Ragnar Illustre on hot water, Alexander Prideaux on digital solar and Michael Zhong on apartment heating in China. Fergus MacTaggart from QUT is focused on smart meters/monitoring devices and Alvin Mo (pictured above) from UNSW is modelling HVAC.
